HOW THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS HELP YOU HEAL

If you’re on a health and healing journey, your emotional and mental well being are an essential part of your recovery. We are holistic beings- body, mind and spirit. Each aspect is intertwined and directly impacts the others.

As an example, depression can lead you to experience to loss of appetite, fatigue and immune suppression. Stress can lead to chest pain, nausea, headaches, or diarrhea. Anger can lead to heart palpitations, high blood pressure and dizzyness.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), up to 90 percent of U.S. doctor visits are triggered by a stress-related illness. Many physicians also report finding that most illnesses have an underlying emotional component to them. There is a condition of “dis-ease.”

Even the Bible has admonitions about the body-health connections, such as this one in Proverbs 14:30 which states,

“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”

GOOD NEWS ABOUT HEALTHY THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS

The good news is that just as negative thoughts and emotions can hinder your health, positive ones can help you thrive. Healthy thoughts and emotions contribute to physical wellness because they produce biochemical changes in your body that boost our immune system and stimulate health.

When my husband was diagnosed with malevolent bladder cancer in 2012, part of our healing protocol for him included daily times of Bible reading, meditation and prayer, daily affirmations of God’s promises of health and healing, nutritional cleansing, spiritual counseling, and the emotional support of family and friends. Within 10 months, contrary to all conventional predictions, he was completely healed of cancer and remains healed to this day. FOURTH OF JULY RELAXATION 

This Fourth of July, spend time in the company of family and friends who are loving and kind. Find ways to get outdoors, get some fresh air, exercise, take walks, have some fun and laughs. Forgive everyone, release those toxic emotions, relax, and enjoy life. It will be good medicine and hasten your healing!
