The Healed, Healthy and Whole Kitchen: Green Deliciousness

Green smoothies are a delicious way to get concentrated doses of vitamins and minerals. These drinks help alkalize the body, keep you hydrated, and aid with digestion. Make sure you use fresh, raw, organic ingredients. Drink one of these daily and sip your way better health—fast! Enjoy!
(You’ll need a juicer for this recipe)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of green kale or spinach
  • 5-6 carrots
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 green apple
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger
  • Splash of lemon to taste

Preparation

  • Rinse all vegetables before using
  • Remove the kale from the spine and shred or cut into strips
  • Fill 2 cups, pressed down
  • Cut off carrot heads and tails, then cut in 2-inch pieces
  • Cut off cucumber heads and tail, slice in half and then 2-inch pieces
  • Cut celery in two-inch pieces, leaves and all
  • Peel and cut a piece of fresh ginger-amount is up to personal taste
  • Place all ingredients in juicer, with celery as the last ingredient
  • Stir the juice, add a splash of lemon to taste…and enjoy!

Substitutions: when green apples are out of season, substitute with a pear, fuji apple (or other tart apple)

Makes two, 8 ounce glasses of green drink
